Activities in the Senales Valley
Expertise in all things Alpine is important to us:
We are members of the European hiking villages, we have hiking guides,
ski instructors, snowboard instructors, Freeride Guide, MTB Guide, Nordicwalking, paragliders, and all under one roof!
No matter what the season, Senales Valley is always a holiday well spent.
Summer
You will be in the Larch valley of South Tyrol, a hiker’s and mountaineer’s paradise, in the middle of the Ötztal Alps, surrounded by 3000 m peaks with their glaciers, mountain lakes, the oldest mountain inns in the Alps and their mountain pastures, and stunning meadows with grazing animals.
The fauna and flora here is incredibly diverse because the valley stretches from an altitude of 600 m right up to about 3800 m.
South Tyrol offers a wide variety of sports such as hiking, mountaineering, zip wiring, biking, paragliding, swimming, archery, horse riding, taking a summer break, fleeing from the heat or simply doing absolutely nothing. Sports people from all over the world come to the Senales Valley to use
the excellent resources for altitude training, cycling, cross country skiing, biathlon, mountain climbing, athletics, canoeing, swimming, skiing and much more.
They relish the solitude in the small village of Karthaus, a former Carthusian Monastery, also referred to as the “place of silence”. The entire Valley offers most diverse types of culture, from Juval Castle where Reinhold Messner lives at the entrance to the valley, to the site at the end of the valley where Ötzi lay hidden and preserved by the eternal ice.
Winter magic
A mountain chalet against a snowy landscape, the perfect fairy tale. The Senales Valley has much more to offer with its spectacular ski slopes in a resort that is only 6 km away from the chalet and can be reached in a matter of minutes by car, or by ski shuttle that is only 50 m from the chalet and is free of charge.
The winter season in the Senales Valley starts as early as September, when we welcome athletes from numerous national teams who use the glacier to prepare for the Ski World Cup season.
Our ski region starts at an altitude of 2000 m and rises to 3200 m, a ski, snowboard and freeride el dorado! In these times of global climate change, snow is guaranteed on the slopes. But, it is not only the ski slopes that make for a fantastic winter experience in the Senales Valley. We also have cross country skiing, tobogganing, ice skating, ski touring, snow shoe hiking, and perfectly prepared winter hiking trails leading to spectacular mountain inns that are also open in winter. And, if you need a
break from the mountains, Merano is only 30 minutes away by car.
